Dear State Leaders,

“As a resident of San Diego County, I am writing today to express my strong opposition to SB 594 (Padilla), which prevents the development of the 399,127 voter approved East Otay Mesa Recycling Center and Landfill. The project will allow our County to meet the state and local waste and diversion goals, including household hazardous and organic waste that are currently unmet at the County’s existing landfill facilities. In fact, approval of SB 594 will result in the expansion and extension of the Otay Landfill in Chula Vista, the Sycamore Landfill in San Diego near Santee and the Miramar Landfill in San Diego. For these reasons, we respectfully ask you to vote no.”
